چکیده

Cranioencephalic traumatism (TBI) is a common situation in trauma hospitals and has become responsible for high rates of mortality worldwide. When the victim TBI affected by injuries to skullcap with need grafting, problems regarding availability suitable affordable materials eventually happen. In this study, 3D structure Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) that mimics cranial bone morphology use cranioplasty was developed. Samples different formulations, form round bars, were obtained through uniaxial compression, porosity controlled salt leaching technique. Then, specimens characterized terms pore distribution, surface roughness, compression resistance cytotoxicity. Results exhibited levels similarity strutures PEEK natural human bone, which indicates effectiveness proposed method mimicking compact/porous/compact system (diploe).

Case Report: Destructive Neuroendocrine Cranial Tumour and The Role Of Pre-Fashioned Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) Cranioplasty

Medical implant devices have evolved in the past decade and now many surgical specialties have turned to polyetheretherketone (PEEK) devices for its ideal properties. In Neurosurgery, PEEK has its role in many operations such as cervical cages after anterior cervical discectomy and as a prosthetic implant for cranioplasty where autologous cranioplasty is not possible. We discuss our case of a p...
